2025 Platinum American Eagle PF70 Coin
In 1997, the U.S. Mint made numismatic history by issuing the first Platinum American Eagle
Proof coin. Unique among American coinage, the Platinum American Eagle Proof features an
annually changing design distinct from its bullion counterpart. Authorized by Congress in
1996, the release of the 1997 Platinum American Eagle marked the first-ever platinum legal
tender coin, with a face value of $100.
